Abstract
Distribution of electricity to consumers is increasing in terms of use or growth of electricity consumers themselves at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Rayon Belanti Padang City, causing problems, one of which is an overload and also an unbalanced load. So it is necessary to increase the capacity of the distribution transformer as a means of distributing electricity from high voltage networks to medium voltage so that it can be distributed to consumers. To increase the required power, one solution is to add a Mobile Substation Unit Transformer (Portable Transformer) which is connected in parallel to the distribution transformer. Parallel operation of distribution transformers with portabel transformers must meet the requirements of transformer parallel operation. The conditions that need to be considered are the voltage, frequency, vector group and phase sequence that must be the same. This study analyzes the performance of parallel operation of distribution transformers with mobile substation unit transformers (portable transformer) with unbalanced load conditions or overloads through calculations. Calculation results the parallel operation of the distribution transformer with the portable transformer when the load is unbalanced or the load is overloaded shows the results in the form of a significant reduction in the load power carried by the distribution transformer by parallel operation with the portable transformer. The parallel operation of the distribution transformer with portable is only temporary, until there is a change in the transformer unit with a large power capacity capability.
