Abstract

Emotion is a basic component of behavior. Love, sadness, happiness, hate, fear, and other emotions can be expressed. Emotions can be expressed in a variety of ways, such as the facial expressions and gestures that can see in a movie. The research aims to describe the words and types are used to express happiness in life. This research intends to describe the words and types of expressions used to express happiness in life. This research also describes emotional expression in happiness as in the movie The Princess Switch by Rohl, in terms of words used to express happiness, the writer employs the qualitative method. In the analysis, the writer focuses on the analysis of happiness expressions using the theory of Murray(2014) and McLaren(2013). Furthermore, the writer found different words and types of emotional expression in literal and non literal. Figurative language is used to express happiness as non-literal expression such as hyperbole. In addition, the result of expressions gives knowledge about the writer in happiness expression is used various types such as intellectual happiness, vocational happiness, and social happiness. And the writer found literal expression of happiness such as delighted,optimistic,glad,happy,contented,excited and friendly. Keywords: basic emotions, happiness, literal and non literal
