Abstract

This research discusses Past Participle –Ed In Time Magazine which is focused on functions and types of past participle used by authors or writers of Time Magazine. The research is aimed at describing functions and types of past participle used in the Time magazine. The magazine is one of the authentic materials that can be read by many readers, students, lecturer, businessmen, etc. they read it to get information. To do study on the magazine, the research applies language research functions and types of past participle distributional method based Sudaryanto (1993) and past participle concept based on Caroline and Pearson Brown (2010). The result is that past participle has function like an adjective, or like a verb. The type of sentences divided into three. Those are simple, compound, complex and compound complex sentence.The past participle –ed can be different function in a sentence.The past participle –ed can be progressive aspect, passive voice, adjective clause which is found in Time magazine.
