Abstract

Metaphor is a comparison between two terms that is one sentences to other sentences to explore the nature of one. This research aims to analyzing the metaphor found in Percy Jackson: The Olympians novel by Rick Riordan. Everyday language is colored with metaphor and we used metaphor when we find it difficult to describe a thing or an experience because that a metaphor is a figurative language that describe somethings with a direct comparison with a very deep meaning. The writer uses a qualitative method because this method is used to understand an understanding of the reasons, opinions, and motivations that underlie it, this theory also helps to study the data. The writer applies Beekman and Callow (1974) to found the type in the novel and Alston (1967) to analyze the meaning in the novel. In the end the writer found fifty the data in the novel divided to thirteen full comparison (full comparison) and thirty-seven incomplete comparison (abbreviated comparison). From here prove that is in the novel abbreviated comparison more dominant that described while makes metaphor was difficult to find the true meaning from the sentences. Keywords: Metaphor, full comparison and abbreviated comparison
