Abstract

The purpose of this reseach is to know the second year students’ reading ability in answering question of English Department of Bung Hatta University. The sample of this study is 20 students and 15 students as try out of the second year students of English Department of Bung Hatta University. The method used in this study was a descriptive method In collecting data, the reseacher used reading test. The test used in form multiple choice test. The reliability index of reading test was 0.90 (very reliable). It is indicated that 8 students (40%) had very high ability, 6 students (30%) had good ability and 6 students (30%) had moderate ability. It means that students’ reading ability of the second year was very good.In conclusion, whether the students had very good ability they should to practises in order to maintance their reading ability. The students are suggested to do more practices in maintaining their reading ability.
