Currently there are still many road users who ignore safety riding. Rules concerning safety riding are contained in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport, particularly in Article 278, 285, 287, 291 paragraph (1). The problems studied are: (1) How is law enforcement against safety riding violation in Padang City (2) What are the obstacles encountered by the police in enforcing the law against violation of safety riding in Padang City? This research used socio-legal approach. The data used were primary data and secondary data. Data were collected by interviews and document studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The result of the research are: (1) Law enforcement on the traffic riding is important to achieve orderly, obedient and lawful situation in traffic. Law enforcement conducted by traffic police against non-compliance motorists by means of ticketing and warning (2) Obstacles encountered by the police, especially Satlantas Polresta Padang are internal factors and external factors.
