The total members of this population were 54 students they were distributed into two classes which consist of class A and B. The researcher used total sampling techniques to select the sample. The data of this study were gathered using reading test on narrative text in the form of multiple choice. It was focused on orientation, complication, and resolution. Before the researcher gave the real test, she did the try out test for the students out of sample because the instrument was categorized as the non standard test. The result of the try out test was used to analyze item difficulties and item discrimination and to know the reliability of the test. It was found that the reliability index of the test was 0.91 (see Appendix 5). Based on the result of analyzing data, it was found that the ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University to predicting outcome of information in orientation of narrative text was bad. It was indicated by the fact that 25 students (46.30 %) had bad ability (see Appendix 18). It was also found that the ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University to predicting outcome of information in complication of narrative text was bad. It was indicated by the fact that 19 students (35.18 %) had bad ability (see Appendix 21). And the ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University to predicting outcome of information in resolution of narrative text was very good. It was indicated by the fact that 29 students (53.70 %) had very good ability (see Appendix 24). Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University was bad. In line with this conclusion, the lecturer are suggested to explain more comprehensively about the material of predicting outcome of information about narrative text to improve students ability to predicting outcome the text, the students are suggested to learn and do more exercise in predict outcome of narrative text and the next researcher is suggested to do relevant research form different point of view and another kind of text
