Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have different types and types of plants according to zoning conditions related to environmental physico-chemical factors, among the factors that cause differences in vegetation are soil types and tides. The survey conducted in this study aims to determine the species and diversity of plants in the mangrove ecosystem. This research was conducted in the protected zone of the coastal region of Bungus Bay, namely locations 1 (Labuhan Tarok), 2 (Cindakir), 3 (Kabung Cove - Labuhan Cino), 4 (Kaluang Cove), and 5 (Pandan Cove) which are mangrove ecosystems as sub-systems of the coastal ecosystem. This research was conducted using the transect method with checkered lines. The data collected were analyzed to determine the species and plant species diversity of the mangrove ecosystem. The results showed that in the Southern part of the region of Bungus Bay with a humped beach type (calm waters) there were 3 types of mangrove ecosystem plant families, namely 1) Rhizophoraceae with species Rhizophora mucronata sp., Ceriops tagal sp., Ceriops decandra sp., dan Bruguiera hainessi sp.; 2) Rubiaceae with species Scyphiphora hydrophillacea sp.; and 3) Sonneratiaceae with species Sonneratia alba sp Meanwhile, in the Central part of the region of Bungus Bay with estuary beach types such as in Cindakir (estuary stem Cindakir), and Labuhan Tarok (Timbalun stem estuary), 9 types of mangrove ecosystem plant families, namely 1) Rhizophoraceae with species Rhizophora mucronata sp.; 2) Primulaceae with species Aegiceras cornicullatum sp., and Aegiceras floridum sp.; 3) Sonneratiaceae with species Sonneratia alba sp.; 4) Meliaceae with species Xylocarpus granatum sp.; 5) Arecaceae with species Nypa fruticans sp.; 6) Acanthaceae with species Acanthus ilicifolius sp.; 7) Malvaceae (associated mangrove) with species Thespesia populnea sp., Hibiscus tiliaceus sp.; 8) Pandanaceae (associated mangrove) with species Pandanus odoratissima sp.; and 9) Combretaceae (associated mangrove) with species Terminalia catappa sp.
