Abstract

THE DESIGN OF SUNGAI BANGEK WEIR, BALAI GADANG VILLAGE, KOTO TANGAH SUB-DISTRICT, PADANG CITY Rafi Saputra, Zahrul Umar, Rini Mulyani Civil Engineering Departmen, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Bung Hatta Univrsity Padang E-mail: rafy.saputra05@gmail.com, zahrul_umar@yahoo.co.id, rinimulyani@bunghatta.ac.id Abstract The construction of irrigation channels is necessary to support the national food supply. Using irigation, the availability of water in the paddy fields can be fulfilled even though the land is far from surface water sources (rivers). For rice plants, irrigation serves to provide water supply to keep rice production. The area of paddy fields in the irrigation area is divided in such a way that makes it easy to distribute water. Development and rehabilitation of irrigation networks need to be improved to maintain the continuity of water sources and irrigation networks for agriculture. To obtain rainfall plan value, frequency distribution analyses such as Normal Probability Distribution, Gumbel Probability Distribution, Normal Log Probability Distribution and Pearson Log Type III Probability Distribution functions are used. Weir is planned to be made of of river stones. Based on the design, it is obtained that the dimensions of the Bangek river weir are as follows: the effective width of the weir is 32.24 m; the type of mercury weir is round with crest height of 2,4 m; the type of weir pool is sink basin with a minimum allowable radius of 5.00 m and a minimum limit of water height on downstream (Tmin) of 5.02 m. The design has met the requirements for stability against potential rolling, sliding, eccentricity and bearing capacity problem of soil. Keywords: Weir, Sungai Bangek, Design
