Abstract

Srimariola, Aulia (2022): An Analysis of the Second Year Students’ Self-confidence in Presentation at the English Department of Bung Hatta University Advisor: Fitrina Harmaini, S.S, M.A The purpose of this research was to find out an analysis of the second-year students’ self-confidence in presentation at the English Department of Bung Hatta University. The design of this research was descriptive research. The population of this study was the second-year students who registered in the academic year of 2020/2021. Due to the limited number of population members, the researcher used a total sampling technique. The number of the sample as respondents in this research was 37 students. The instrument used to get the data was a questionnaire. It was found that the reliability index of the questionnaire was 0.57. The result of this research showed that in general students‘ had self-confidence in presentation at the English Department of Bung Hatta University. It was proved by the finding that there are students’ had self-confidence in presentation. In specific, students’ had self-confidencein presentation in terms of believe in own abilities, it was proved by the the finding that (76,31%) were classified moderate. Next, the students’ had self-confidence in presentation in terms of acting independently making decisions, it was proved by the finding that (69,41%) were classified moderate. After that, students’ had self-confidence in presentation in terms of positive feeling, it was proved by the finding that (76,17%) were classified moderate. And last, students’ had self-confidence in self-confidence in terms of dare to express the opinion, it was proved by the finding that (79,35%) were classified moderate. Based on the result of this result, It can be concluded that the second-year students’ had self-confidence in the presentation at the English Department of Bung Hatta University. Relating to this, the researcher suggested to the students’, students’ in foreign language classes must pay attention to their self-confidence in learning to speak English. And next, the future researcher is suggested to investigate how the students’ can have moderate of self-confidence. Keywords: analysis, speaking, presentation, self-confidence.
