Abstract
In this thesis, the writer attempts to find out the conjunction in Barack Obama‟s Speech “Remarks by the President at Islamic Society of Baltimore” to determined what are the types of conjunction and also what are the most appear in the speech. The research used a descriptive qualitative. The data of this research are the words and sentence in Barack Obama‟s speeches. The data collected by reading every single words and sentences in the speech, and categorized the collected data based on the types of Conjunction of Halliday and Hasan. The writer found four type of conjunction used in the speech: additive, adversative, causal and temporal. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that there are four types of conjunction in Barack Obama‟s speech. The most appears from both conjunction is additive with one hundred eight form in Barack Obama‟s speech. Keyword: Cohesion, grammatical, conjunction, qualitative, speech
