Abstract

The ability to read and write in a language skill is an ability that is obtained after audibility and speak basically fourth proficiency in language skill can not be separated from one to another. To determine the ability of a learner needs t do an evaluation and assesment. Therefore it is necessary to do a course of a study related to the issue of evaluation and assesment aimed at renewing the model and teaching techniques that can achieve the goal of a study. One of the models of assesment and evaluation that are considered able t see the progress of writing skills and reading ability is the model of authentic assesment through portfolio method. Because by using this model can assess the processes and product of each lesson. The process of reading results can be seen in resulting paper products learners. Because this is a study to improve the learning process, the approach used is via a class action. The results of this study is to look the progress of each learners in term of the ability to understand the reading was then issued in written form, So that there is a continuity between learning to read (dokkai) by writing (Sakubun). By using an authentic assesment can be said to be more objective assesment, because the assesment is not only seen from the end oh the course, but also seen ini during the learning process. In addition, from the results of the assesment can be seen development and weakness of students in reading and writing.
