Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the students’ perception toward English E-learning during Covid-19 at SMK N 4 Padang. The design of this research was descriptive research. The population of this research was the first year students at SMK N 4 Padang in the 2021/2022 academic year. Proportional stratified random sampling was used in this research and the number of sample was 31 students. The instrument for collecting the data in this research was questionnaire. To analyze the reliability of the questionnaire, the researcher used Alpha formula. The result of the analysis showed that the questionnaire was reliable. It was supported by a total score was 0.45 (Reliable). Then the questionnaire was valid in terms of the content because it was constructed based on certain criteria and there was expert judgement. The result of this research shows that the students of the first year at SMK N 4 Padang had positive perception toward English E-learning during Covid-19. It was indicated by the data that 20 students (65%) had a positive perception. Specifically, the students’ perception toward learning material was positive. It was proved by the fact that 21 students (68%) were categorized as having positive perception. Then the students’ perception toward learning media also was positive. It was shown by the fact 17 students (55%) were categorized as having positive perception. The last the students’ perception toward learning activities was positive. It was represented by the fact 18 students (58%) were categorized as having positive perception. Finally, based on the findings, it can be concluded that the students of SMK N 4 Padang had positive perception. It was indicated by the data that 20 students (65%) had positive perception. The researcher suggested to the English teacher to do E-learning as learning variation because the students had positive perception in English E-learning. Students were suggested to do self E-learning because students had positive perception. It means they were interested toward E-learning. Further researchers were suggested to refer this research result for the future research.
