Abstract

Gunung Sarik Subdistrict, located in Padang City, has diverse cultural tourism potential and is rich in historical value and Minangkabau traditions. The Padang City Government has designated part of the area as a Thematic Village focusing on traditional culture. However, the development of cultural tourism in Gunung Sarik Subdistrict remains limited and uneven, with most activities concentrated in RW 12. Therefore, an analysis of the existing cultural attractions is needed to formulate an appropriate development strategy. This study aims to identify the cultural attractions in Gunung Sarik Subdistrict, analyze their potential, and provide development directions. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and literature studies. The assessment of cultural attractions was conducted using a scoring method with the Likert scale, classified using the interval theory, which categorizes attractions into high, medium, and low based on the parameters of cultural uniqueness, tradition sustainability, and government support. The study results indicate that several attractions have high cultural appeal, such as Rumah Kajang Padati, Randai Art, and Silek Tuo Art, while others, such as traditional culinary delights Rendang Daging and Lemang Pulut, fall into the medium category. However, the main challenges include lack of promotion, limited sustainable cultural activities, and insufficient government support for tradition preservation. Therefore, a development strategy is needed, including revitalizing cultural objects, increasing community involvement in cultural preservation, and strengthening government policies. With the right development steps, Gunung Sarik Subdistrict can become a leading cultural tourism destination in Padang City, attracting tourists while contributing to the preservation of Minangkabau culture.
