Abstract

Anger is one of the branches of human emotion that has always been fascinating, while we as humans convey our resistance or frustration feeling. In this research, the writer analyzes the anger emotion used by the characters in the movie 13 Reasons Why. This research intends to describe and analyze the type of anger and explain how the words used to convey the character’s anger emotion in the movie 13 Reasons Why. The writer uses the qualitative method. The writer presented the data in a table. The resource of data for this research is taken from the movie 13 Reasons Why, which consists of 4 seasons. The results of this study reveal that there are so many ways to convey the emotion of anger other than through swear words, such as metaphor, personification, hyperbole, etc, which are generally used by people to convey their anger. The anger emotional expression is confirmed by 50 data from the movie 13 Reasons Why. The details are as follows: (1) the types of anger emotion which is 10 irritation, 9 exasperation, 15 rages, 9 disgust, 4 envy, 3 torments. (2) the ways the characters conveyed their anger. The writer found that rage is one of the most used types of anger that the characters use to convey their anger. most of the types used by the characters in this movie are irritation, rage, and exasperation.
