Abstract

This is an analysis of language styles that used in “Snowpiercer” movie overall. The analysis is based on how all characters create communication each other by identifying the style, tone, or words they use. The whole characters use different language styles, according to the speaker and whom they talk to, such as formal, casual, consultative, and intimate language style. The writer uses the dialogue of the movie as primary data, that is why the writer uses qualitative method. The researcher watches the movie first two times to get the comprehensive understanding for the whole of the story. Then, identify the language styles used that is used by the characters in the conversation. After identifying, the researcher continues to classify the data based on types of the language style, then finding the dominant type of language style used in “Snowpiercer” movie. Two conclusions may be drawn from this study. The first sort of linguistic style discovered by the researcher was four out of five. The second of the four categories, casual style, is the most prevalent, whereas frozen style is absent from the film "Snowpiercer”. Formal style has 4 data, consultative style contains 73 data, casual style contains 78 data, and intimate style contains 52 data, in that order. It can be observed from the usage of language style that the most common style is casual, which comprises 78 data.
